Abstract
Simpson index, in the form of D=1/Lamda, is frequently cited in ecological literatures. In present study we proposed that 1-Lamda instead of 1/Lamda, for the measurement of alpha diversity could be a better and justified approach.

Keywords Simpson index;alpha diversity;revision.
